What Happens In A brain That experiences trauma?

Trauma is a term defined as a lasting emotional response to living through a distressing event or series of events.

There are four main categories of trauma:

Acute Trauma results from a single incident.

Cronic Trauma is from prolonged or repeated violence, abuse, or neglect.

Complex Trauma is exposure to prolonged, repetitive, or multiple forms of abuse, violence, or neglect often invasive and interpersonal.

Generational Trauma is trauma that extends from one generation to the next.

Trauma can structurally and functionally change the brain.

Psychcentral.com has a breakdown of how trauma specifically affects parts of brain.
